Marble, Wood, Iron and Cultured Marble Cast
Size Variable

This work arose out of a consideration on the fundamental difference between the German words of “Skulptur” and “Plastik”. In German, one differentiates between a “Skulptur”, a work made by the taking away of material, and a “Plastik”, a work in which material is added.

Two separate marble blocks were carved to the form of a casting mould. The blocks were then chiseled out, leaving only the veins and creating a sunk relief. The marble power from the carving was mixed with resin and cast back into the marble mould. From the same material, an artificial third stone was made. Half from one block and half from the other.
